I am a little behind on keeping this blog updated because I have been really busy with moving into a new home and then subsequent bathroom remodel. But, a nasty cold has forced me to sit still this week and has allowed me to make my way through my to-do lists. Every year I make a big production out of my family photo, but with the aforementioned move, the days were ticking by in December and I hadn’t even thought of what I was going to do. I woke one extremely chilly mid-december morning (it was -8 degrees outside) and saw a gorgeous orangey-pink glow coming through
my bedroom window. I jumped out of bed, grabbed clothes for my kiddo, self and other half and said “Put them on, we are heading outside for photos now!”
Our new home sits on 1 1/2 acres with a stream running through the back and I have really enjoyed scoping photo opportunities. I drug my family into the below zero weather dressed in the outfits I picked out, hair and teeth unbrushed but wrapped in warm winter coats. I took them to a cove of trees I had spied put them in position and set up my camera on the tripod, set the timer, threw off our coats and captured this image. It took two shots, and frozen nose hairs, but we got it done and I think it was our best family photo yet. Why? Because it was effortless and easy.
