Kira’s Beachside Maternity Shoot | Kailua, Hawaii

I have been waiting a very long time to shoot a gorgeous Mama-to-be like Kira on the beach.  In Hawaii if its raining, the joke is to say ‘wait 15 minutes and that will change.’ However, the day before it had been pouring rain all day in Kailua, so we were a little nervous what was in store for us the morning of her maternity session.  But as you can see we got lucky.  The sky was beautiful and the ocean seemed to be have jewels reflecting off the surface.  Add to it Kira’s perfect jewel-tones dress and we had all we needed to create magic!

Maternity sessions have always been my favorite subjects to shoot.  The glow of the Mom-to-be warms my heart like nothing else.  There is something really beautiful about the energy during a maternity session. There are moments of excitement, often some nerves, but ultimately a feeling of contentment and peace as the expectant mama gets to spend time at a favorite place, just being, alongside the baby kicks. I encourage all Mommies to set aside a budget and some time to have their photos taken.  Your life will forever change and these kind of photos are amazing keepsakes that celebrate this very special time in your life.  My 9 year old kiddo loves to look at my maternity photos and ask all sorts of questions.  And when you’re brave like Kira, just look at the kind of image that can be captured!
